Problem:
If your customers and staff are sniffling instead of doing business, you may have an allergy problem.

Solutions:
Indoor air quality experts say we all need more ventilation, but fresh air brings in pollen during allergy season. If you are in a basement space, or if a well-meaning staffer plugged in a humidifier, you may have mold as well.

If you have an open office or retail space, you can get a dedicated air cleaner (photo) with HEPA filters for about $500. (Do not put in a negative ion generator, though, without researching their health risks.)

If you are in a basement or on a slab, you may need a dehumidifier or reheat to get rid of mold. At every level, you may need to filter the air more. Clean the ducts, and add a HEPA filter section near the air handler. These filter out nearly everything, but may require a bigger fan, and frequent filter replacement.
